Route Description

The Super-Sprint is a super fun, flat course on closed roads. Perfect for beginners.

Start your race with the exclusive opportunity to swim in Cardiff Bay. Cardiff Bay is supplied by two rivers to form a 500-acre (2.0 km²) freshwater lake around the former dockland area south of the City Centre.

Your bike route is a super speedy 9k course on closed roads. Heading out of transition under the shadow of the Wales Millenium Centre you will head along James Street and down Ferry Road. You will turn around at the Morrisons Supermarket roundabout and fly back up the road the way you came. You will then head along Lloyd George Avenue and thrill at the speed on this section, with another turn around to come at the top so that you get to fly down the avenue once again. The lap ends at the entrance to the Oval Basin and the Wales Millenium Centre.

The Super Sprint run is a flat out and back route, showing off the sights of Cardiff Bay along the way. Heading out of transition first towards the Norwegian church and along the cycle path, taking in the sites of industrial heritage that Cardiff is so renowned for. You will find your turn around point along the cycle path not far from the Harbour Authority Building, the route back gives you views of the Pierhead Building, the Wales Millenium Centre, the Senedd and so much more that you’ll have plenty to keep you motivated as you go for your PB! Once you get to the Senedd Building its time for your sprint finish; along Bute Place, around the corner and into the finish line in front of the Wales Millenium Centre with a famous Always Aim High welcome.

Important Information

Minimum Age

In line with British Triathlon Federation rules you must be at least 15 years old to take part in this race.

Registration

Registration will take place on Saturday afternoon and also before the race on Sunday morning - we will confirm specific times in your Final Instructions, which will be available on the website and via email 10 days prior to the race.

Registration is usually located on the Plass outside the Wales Millennium Centre CF10 5AL.

Wave Start Times

The first wave provisionally starts at 09.00. Confirmed timings will be detailed in your Final Instructions which will be available on the website and via email 10 days prior to your race.

Waves are allocated using the estimated finish time on your entry.

You'll be able to find out which wave you're in by logging onto the Live Tracker app ahead of the race. Details of this will be emailed to you along with the Final Instructions.

Transition

Transition opens early on the morning of the event and will close approximately 30 minutes before the first wave starts. You may not enter transition for any reason after the allocated time. Confirmed timings will be detailed in your Final Instructions which will be available on the website and via email 10 days prior to your race.

Transition will only be open for racking on the day of the event. It is not possible to leave your bike overnight.

Equipment left in Transition after it closes will be removed and its security cannot be guaranteed.

Cut Off Times

In the interest of athlete safety and the safety of our volunteers on the course, there will be strict cut-off times in place.

You have a total of 25 minutes to complete your Swim and exit transition.
You have a total of 45 minutes to complete your bike and exit transition. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO COMPLETE ANY MORE LAPS OF THE BIKE COURSE AFTER 09:50. ALL BIKES MUST BE CLEAR OF THE BIKE COURSE NO LATER THAN 10:30.
You have a total of 35minutes to complete your run.

Timings are subject to change. Confirmed timings will be detailed in your final instructions. These are emailed to athletes 10 days prior to the race, and they’ll also be available 10 days prior to the race on our website.

Prizes

We hold a prize giving ceremony after the race, approximate timings will be detailed in the Final Instructions however it is a good idea to listen out for any updates that come in over the tannoy. Sometimes the ceremony may be delayed and we wouldn't want you to miss out. We don't send out prizes after the event, so make sure you attend the ceremony and receive your big Welsh cheer!
