Snowdonia Trail Marathon 2021 Trail Running Ultra Marathon
The Ultra encompasses 7000ft of climbing over 60km and visits the beautiful Cwm Tresgl and Cwm Pennant before rejoining the Marathon Route to ascent Snowdon.
The Ultra Marathon is a UTMB qualifying race and will earn finishers 3 ITRA points.
The Ultra route takes the Marathon route up Maesgwm with views of Snowdon, then it drops down towards Rhydd Ddu. Upon reaching Beddgelert Forest the Ultra route breaks away from the Marathon route to explore the beautiful Cwm Tresgl and Cwm Pennant before rejoining the Marathon Route again and working its way along the Afon Glaslyn and Llyn Gwynant to the ascend up Snowdon to the Finger Stone via the PyG track. Once at the Finger Stone runners will descend Snowdon by the Llanberis Path all the way to the Finish line. This route is a trail running enthusiasts paradise, with mountain, forest, stone path, slate quarries and tracks it isn’t hard to keep motivated the whole way around.
You must be at least 20 years old to take part in this race.
At booking you will have the option to receive your entry in the post or collect from registration. You must enter by the 22nd June 2021 if you wish to receive your race number in the post*.
Registration will take place during the day on Saturday and before the race on Sunday morning. It is usually located on the event field in Llanberis situated next to the Community Centre - LL55 4UR**
On the morning of the race, registration closes no later than 15 minutes before the race start*.
Confirmed weekend timings and locations will be detailed in your final instructions which will be available on the website and via email 10 days prior to the race.

Cut Off Times
There will be staged cut offs across the race to ensure the safety and the well being of Volunteers and competitors. Runners arriving after these times will be offered the choice of returning by foot to the event village or waiting for an event shuttle vehicle. Public buses to Llanberis are also available from Pen y Pass for £1.50* should you wish to use them.
Ultra Marathon Cut Off times
11:40* - Runners must get to the Beddgelert feed station at mile 20.5 by 11:40. This allows an average speed of 4mph.
14:20* - Runners must get from Beddgelert to Pen y Pass at mile 28.67 by 14:20. This allows for an average speed of 3mph.
18:30* - Runners must get from Pen y Pass to the Finish Line before 18:30. This allows for an average speed of 2pmh.
The Finish Line will close at 18:30*. This allows 12 hours for completion of the ultra marathon route.

We hold a prize giving ceremony after the racing, approximate timings will be detailed in the Final Instructions however it is a good idea to listen out for information on any updates that come in over the tannoy. Sometimes the ceremony may be delayed and we wouldn't want you to miss out. We don't send out prizes after the event, so make sure you attend the ceremony and receive your big Welsh cheer!

All prizes must be collected on the day.
* If any runner places in Open and Vet then a drop down system will occur.
All competitors must carry the compulsory kit listed below. This kit is for your safety due to the often unpredictable and quickly changing mountain conditions and isolated nature of the route.
Spot checks will be in place and anybody found without the required kit will not be allowed to race.
- Wind proof full body cover - windproof jacket windproof trousers with full lengths arms and legs
- Suitable off road running shoes - fell/trail shoes
- Hat and gloves (Head and hand cover)
- Emergency food
- Bumbag/race vest
- Foil blanket
