What is a Virtual Event?
A virtual event is an online challenge. You select the distance that you would like to cover over the course of one month and then complete it, anywhere in the world, at your own pace and on your own schedule.
How long do I have to complete my distance and when does that time start and end?
You have the entire month, starting on the 1st and ending on the last day.
If you enter later in the month you can still count any distance you covered prior to entry as long as it is within the monthly challenge period.
Why are some of the challenges in km and some in miles?
We recognise that some people prefer to calculate distance in km and some in miles and that this can be important to your training plan and sense of achievement. To save you having to make any complicated conversions we decided to offer both options.
Is there a minimum age to take part?
You must be 16 or over to take part.
Junior events are for young people aged between 5 and 15.
How much does it cost and what is included?
It costs £10 to enter a monthly challenge. This includes a 20% charity donation, locally-sourced Winter Series slate coaster, digital bib, entry in to our prize draw and postage. You can also make additional purchases at point of entry including socks, buffs and nutrition bundles. These are available at a special price only to our Winter Series Virtual Event participants.
If you would like to enter the full series of 4 months it costs £30.
What happens once I sign up?
You will receive a confirmation email, followed by another email containing your digital bib.
It's then up to you to go out and complete your distance!
Completing your Challenge
How can I complete my distance?
You can walk, run, cycle, swim or you complete your distance using a combination of any of these methods.
Can I swim, bike and run on the same challenge?
Can I change my distance?
Yes. We understand that sometimes life gets in the way, injuries happen and training doesn't always go to plan. The most important thing about these challenges is that people take part and feel like they've achieved something. You can change your distance by logging in to our system using the details on your confirmation email. If you've entered the series you can do this for any month so it's not necessary to make a firm decision on your challenge for each month at the start.
I’ve entered after the 1st if the month. What km/miles can I count?
Any. If you enter later in the month you can still count any distance you covered prior to entry as long as it is within the monthly challenge period.
I’ve completed my distance, what happens now?
Congratulations! Once you have completed your challenge email your evidence to firstname.lastname@example.org. You don't need to wait till the end of the month, you can send it at any point. The deadline for evidence submissions is the the 4th day of the following month e.g. November evidence must be received by 4th December.
How do I record evidence to show I have completed my challenge?
There are lots of ways to record your evidence and you don't have to own or be a technological wizard.
Is there a deadline for submitting my evidence?
Evidence must be submitted by the 4th day of the following month e.g. November evidence must be received by 4th December.
When will I receive my slate and any other merchandise I have ordered?
You will receive your slate by the end of the following month. As the slates are made to order and from a local business they do take a little longer, but we're sure you will agree they are well worth the wait.
