XTERRA Weston Park 2023 Duathlon Full

In line with British Triathlon Federation rules you must be at least 17 years old to take part in this race.

Registration for the Full Duathlon will take place on Saturday morning. It is likely to be located in the event village.

Specific distances will have specific registration times. Confirmed timings will be detailed in your final instructions. These are emailed to athletes 10 days prior to the race, and they’ll also be available on our website, 10 days prior too.

The first wave usually starts at 10:00. Confirmed timings will be detailed in your Final Instructions which will be available on the website and via email 10 days prior to the race.

Waves are allocated using the estimated finish time on your entry.

You'll be able to find out which wave you're in by logging onto the Live Tracker app ahead of the race. Details of this will be emailed to you along with the Final Instructions.

Transition will only be open for racking during a specific time on the day of the event. It will close no later than 15 minutes before the first wave starts. You may not enter transition for any reason after the allocated closing time.

Equipment left in transition after the event is finished will be removed and its security cannot be guaranteed.

In the interest of athlete safety and the safety of our volunteers on the course, there will be strict cut-off times in place.

You will complete two laps of the bike course, you must be on your second lap after 1hour 25 minutes, otherwise you will only be allowed to complete 1 lap of the bike before continuing on the run. You will not be eligible for prizes.

The event will run under British Triathlon rules

MTB is the standard the of bike for XTERRA events.

Gravel/cyclocross bikes need to conform with the British Triathlon rules around Cross Triathlon/Duathlon events.

a.) The minimum tyre diameter is 26 inches and maximum is 29 inches. The minimum cross section is 1.5 inch

b.) Front and rear wheels may have different diameters;

c.) Studded and/or slick tyres are allowed;

d.) Competitors are allowed to push or carry the bike over the course;

e.) Drafting is allowed for same gender and also different gender competitors.

For safety reasons there may be ‘no passing’ zones on the course. Lapped competitors will not be removed from the race;

f.) Clip-ons are not allowed;

g.) Traditional road handlebars are forbidden;

h.) Traditional MTB bar ends are authorized. Ends must be plugged;

i.) Athletes must bring their own tools and parts and must carry out their own repairs;

j.) Cyclocross bikes are forbidden unless they comply with the above criteria.

We hold a prize-giving ceremony after the racing, approximate timings will be detailed in the Final Instructions however it is a good idea to listen out for information on any updates that come in over the tannoy. Sometimes the ceremony may be delayed and we wouldn't want you to miss out. We don't send out prizes after the event, so make sure you attend the ceremony and receive your big Welsh cheer!
