Always Aim High Events Add Duathlon Option to Legendary Slateman Weekend!

Published: 09.10.2017

North Wales events organisers Always Aim High have added an exciting new sprint duathlon option to one of the most popular (and challenging) standard distance triathlons in the country - the Pedalcover Slateman.

Taking place in the heart of Snowdonia National Park in Llanberis, Gwynedd, the Slateman Triathlon is one of the jewels in the UK race calendar, with the event regularly voted one of the very best in the world. The race is also the first event in the much loved SUUNTO Adventure Triathlon Series, with the Snowman and Sandman making up the spectacular series.

Taking place on the Saturday 19 May, the first day of the Slateman weekend, the Slateman Duathlon comprises of a 2.4km and 6km run through the leafy Padarn Country Park. These run sections sandwich a truly spectacular 20km cycle leg on an out and back route which takes in the iconic Pen y Pass hill climb on completely closed roads!

As well as the new duathlon race, all three much loved triathlon distances will return; the sprint will join the duathlon on Saturday, while the Sunday will see the Classic Slateman race take place. For those after one of THE challenges of 2018, the Slateman Savage will see a select few take on both the sprint and classic races - a colossal 1,400 metre swim, 71 km bike ride on some of the beautiful roads in the UK and finishing up a seriously tough combined 17 km run with the infamous ‘Slateman Zig-Zags’ thrown in for good measure.

Individual and team entries for the Slateman Duathlon are now open, for more information visit alwaysaimhighevents.com.
