Route Description

The Menai Bridge 10K Ynys Môn offers a unique and memorable 10K route, combining iconic landmarks, coastal scenery, and an undulating profile that keeps things interesting from start to finish.

The race begins on the closed Menai Suspension Bridge, an unforgettable start line with stunning views across the Menai Strait towards Snowdonia. From here, runners head straight into Menai Bridge town, passing through its historic streets before settling into rhythm.

The course then heads out along the coastal road towards Beaumaris, where you’ll enjoy some of the most scenic miles of the race. This section is open and flowing, with long stretches of road that lend themselves well to consistent pacing.

In terms of profile, the route is undulating, with a series of gentle climbs and descents throughout. There are no extreme hills, but runners should be prepared for some rolling sections. Overall elevation gain is moderate for a 10K (circa 130–140m), making it a rewarding challenge.

The return leg brings you back towards Menai Bridge, where the atmosphere builds as you re-enter town. The final stretch finishes in the heart of Menai Bridge, with strong local support creating an electric run-in to the line.

You must be at least 15 years old to take part in this race.

Registration

All UK residents who opted to have their bib posted and entered at least 21 days before the event date will receive their bib (race number) through the post. If you’re one of these people, there is no need to register in person before the event. Your Final Instructions will be emailed to you 10 days before the event and will also be available on the website.

If you live outside the UK, opted to collect your bib, or entered within 21 days of the event start date, your bib (race number) must be collected before the race. Bib collection will be available 1 hour before your race start and can be found near the start line in the event village*. You will be able to find the Final Instructions on the website 10 days before the race.

*There will be an information desk in this location for any inquiries.

Start Time

The 10k usually starts at 09:30, though this is subject to change. The race start time will be confirmed in your Final Instructions, which are available to view on the website 10 days before the race. The race starts on the Bangor side of the Menai Suspension Bridge, LL57 2HZ.

Cut Off Times

In the interest of athlete safety and the safety of our volunteers on the course, there will be strict cutoff times in place. You have 1 hour and 45 minutes to complete the 10K distance.

Prizes

We hold a prize-giving ceremony after the race; approximate timings will be detailed in the Final Instructions. However, it is a good idea to listen out for any updates that come in over the tannoy. Sometimes the ceremony may be delayed, and we wouldn't want you to miss out. We don't send out prizes after the event, so make sure you attend the ceremony and receive your big Welsh cheer!
