The Famous Slateman Atmosphere

The Slateman is as famed for its friendly and welcoming atmosphere as it is for being one of the toughest races on the triathlon calendar. Llanberis is already gearing up for the Slateman, and the town is always buzzing on race weekend.

THAT Swim

The swim leg of the Slateman strikes fear into the heart of even the most hardened triathletes, but with a little bit of open water swimming practice (and the weather on your side), it’s actually not THAT bad...

A Mighty Cycle Course

For the majority of the competitors in the Slateman, the cycle is the real highlight of the race. Beginning with the world famous cycling landmark of Pen y Pass, you’ll be rewarded after this ascent with some of the most stunning views available anywhere in the world.

After a sprint along the roads between Pen y Pass and Capel Curig, you’ll follow the breathtaking A5 past such landmarks as Tryfan, Siabod and the Ogwen Valley before finishing the lap back in Llanberis.

A Run Route That Puts the ‘Slate’ in Slateman

The run route is where the Slateman earns it’s name. Passing Dolbadarn Castle, the challenging run zig-zags up Dinorwig quarry before descending through the leafy trails of Padarn Country Park. The final stretch is lined with spectators cheering you over the line!
