Record 1,100 Runners Enter Llandudno’s Legendary Race in Its 34th Year
Our exhilarating race season kicked off yesterday in the picturesque town of Llandudno with the highly anticipated Nick Beer Llandudno 10k road race.
For the first time ever, a record 1,125 runners entered Llandudno’s iconic race, making this year’s edition the largest in its long-standing history. On race day 967 runners lined up to take on the scenic challenge.
Now in its 34th year, the event continues to be a highlight of the running calendar, originally hosted by North Wales Road Runners before Always Aim High Events took over four years ago.
The route takes runners along Llandudno’s promenade before winding around Marine Drive on the Great Orme, offering stunning coastal views. Despite the forecasted wet conditions, the weather held out, with event some sunshine breaking through, although the wind on the great Orme made for a tough section.
In the men’s race, Hamish Morton of Cambridge & Coleridge AC claimed victory in 34:55, closely followed by Menai Track & Fields Steffan Sayer in 35:06. Stephen Skates of Prestatyn Running club rounded out the podium with 35:31.
In the women’s race, Emma Price of Wrexham AAC took the top spot in 40:26, with Olivia Adelaide finishing second in 43:46, and Mared Llewelyn of Rhedwyr Hebog crossing third in 44:33.
The day began with a 1k kids’ fun run, raising thousands for St. David's Hospice, delighting children and families alike.
Claire Stones, Chief Operating Officer of Always Aim High Events, said:
"It’s amazing to see such a huge increase in runners this year, and this record-breaking turnout is testament to the enduring appeal of this race. A long-standing favourite of the running calendar, it’s a fantastic way to kick off our event season and we couldn’t be more excited by its continued growth.
As always, we would like to extend our thanks to all those who contributed to the success of the day, including our dedicated volunteer marshals, our event partners, and the team here."
