The perfect conditions for the 2022 Tour de Môn
The good old Anglesey weather played with the emotions of many riders leading up to the 2022 Tour de Mon, forecasting everything from non-stop rain and winds before finally delivering probably the most perfect cycling conditions to date with no wind and plenty of Anglesey sunshine.
Over 1000 riders joined us across the 3 different routes - the Mawr which circumnavigates the island and the shorter Canol and Bach - each route taking in some of the most picturesque country and coastal roads in the UK.
The 2022 Tour de Môn also returned to the airfield at RAF and each cyclist had the chance to to take part in the hugely popular ‘Flying Mile’, sponsored by Kingud Biodegradable Bike Cleaning products.
Riders enjoyed the unique experience of going against the clock on the mile-long timed section of the runway; the honours for the fastest time this year going to Steph Duits for the women with a time of 00:02:00, and Matthew Borghi for the men with a time of 00:01:48.
Along the stunning routes, riders took in the infamous sites of Trearddur Bay, Beaumaris, Moelfre, Melin Llynon and Menai Bridge enjoying our famous Tour de Mon feed stations, packed with cakes and treats to keep them going.
Always Aim High Managing Director, Tim Lloyd said: “The Tour de Môn is a firm favourite on the calendar and it was great to be back in Holyhead again this year. It is amazing to see riders from all over the UK to coming to experience this beautiful ride.
"We were also delighted to welcome the Lady Mayor of Holyhead, Adrienne Edwards to start off the riders in the morning, the support from local residents in Holyhead as well as the whole of Anglesey has been amazing."
