Teams

All team members must be at least 18 years old to take part in this race.

You will need attend registration which will take place on Friday evening & Saturday morning before the race - we will confirm specific times in your Final Instructions, which will be available on the website and via email 10 days prior to the race.

Registration is usually located in Llanberis, on the field situated next to the Community Centre - LL55 4UR.

The event is likely to begin at 10am on the Saturday, finishing at 10am on the Sunday. Confirmed timings will be detailed in your Final Instructions which will be available on the website and via email 10 days prior to your race.

The start line is on the Llanberis Event Field LL55 4UR.

The challenge is to complete as many laps as possible within the 24-hour period. A lap is both the ascent and descent of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). Only one team member must complete each lap for it to count, but others are welcome to join them for moral support! The winners of the event will be the team who complete the most laps. In the event of a tie, the fastest time will win. If a team member begins a lap but does not complete it within the 24-hour period, it will NOT count towards the total for that runner or team. In the event of a tiebreak on the number of laps, the quickest will win!

You will not be allowed to go out on your final lap after 10:00am. We would not expect anyone to be leaving for their last lap after 08:30am.

The Finish Line will open from 08:45. If you wish to finish before this time, you will need to hand in your timing chip to the staff at the Lap Turn Around Point.

There are no aid stations out on the course. The following are available for participants:

Lap point - Fruit, crisps, sweets, coke & HIGH5 electrolyte drink & gels.

Respite Area - Hot water will be available to rehydrate dried food packs or make tea & coffee.

On-Site 24-Hour Vendor - A selection of local food vendors will be available in the event village (close to the lap point) to provide additional options for participants and spectators. At least one vendor will be open late into the overnight section of the 24-hour race.

There will be a respite area for all participants located at Llanberis Football Club, 500m away from the event village.

• Pairs will be given space to pitch a maximum of one shelter per pair in the respite area, 500m away from the Event Village - max dimensions 2m x 2.5m (2-person tent)
• Teams will be given space to pitch a maximum of two shelters per team in the respite area, 500m away from the Event Village - max dimensions 3m x 3.5m (3-person tent)
• You will be required to provide your own shelter. Shelters can include tents, bivvies, etc. Provision for caravans and camper vans will not be included, but can be found locally at the cost of the participant. Vehicles will not be allowed in the respite area.
• The respite area is located close to residential areas. It will be a SILENT zone at all times, with NO MUSIC or noise at all between the hours of 9pm and 8am. Security will be on-site policing this.
• Athletes must be respectful of other participants and local residents.
• Absolutely no campfires or cooking/stoves will be allowed in the respite area. Use of any such devices will result in immediate disqualification from the event. There will be showers, changing, and basic kitchen facilities available in the Respite Area.

The Respite Area will only be available from Saturday morning until Sunday afternoon. Staying on Friday or Sunday nights is not permitted by the local authority.

We hold a prize-giving ceremony after the racing, at approximately 11am. Exact timings will be detailed in the Final Instructions; however, it is a good idea to listen out for any updates that come in over the tannoy; sometimes the ceremony may be delayed, and we wouldn't want you to miss out. We don't send out prizes after the event, so make sure you attend the ceremony and receive your big Welsh cheer!

Most number of ascents and descents (laps) - Male, Female, and Mixed Pairs.

Most number of ascents and descents (laps) - Team of 3, 4, and 5.

Individuals, pairs, and teams can set the goal of achieving one of the following awards. Awards will take the shape of a unique local slate that identifies the highest level achieved.

• 3 times ascend and descend – Yr Wyddfa Triple
• 4 times ascend and descend - The Eiger Challenge
• 5 times ascend and descend – The Mont Blanc Challenge
• 6 times ascend and descend – The Kilimanjaro Challenge
• 7 times ascend and descend - The Ama Dablam Challenge
• 8 times ascend and descend - The Annapurna Challenge
• 9 times ascend and descend - The K2 Challenge
• 10 times ascend and descend – The ultimate Everest Challenge!

All competitors must carry the mandatory kit listed below. This kit is for your safety due to the often unpredictable and quickly changing mountain conditions and isolated nature of the route.

Spot checks will be in place and anybody found without the required kit will not be allowed to race.

• Waterproof jacket & trousers - with taped seams and integrated, attached hood.
• Suitable off-road running shoes - fell/trail shoes
• Hat and Gloves (head and hand cover)
• Whistle
• Emergency food (Minimum 500 calories, the equivalent of approximately 3 HIGH5 Energy bars)
• Foil blanket
• Drinking water
• Mobile telephone
• You must carry a head torch with sufficient battery life throughout the race, it must be worn/switched on between the hours of 10pm-5am
