Sunny & Windy Conditions for the 2023 Tour de Môn
The good old Anglesey weather played with the emotions of many riders leading up to the 2023 Tour de Mon, the 10th edition of the event. Stormy winds and rain finally gave way, with Sunday's beautiful sunrise a suggestion of things to come. While there remained a stiff southerly wind, there was plenty of Anglesey sunshine for the riders.
Over 1000 riders joined us across the 3 different routes - the Mawr which circumnavigates the island and the shorter Canol and Bach distances - each taking in some of the most picturesque country and coastal roads in the UK.
The 2023 Tour de Môn also returned to the airfield at RAF Valley, providing each cyclist the chance to to take part in the hugely popular ‘Flying Mile’, sponsored by Kingud biodegradable bike cleaning products.
Riders enjoyed the unique experience of going against the clock on the mile-long timed section of the runway; the honours for the fastest time this year going to Ciara Rush for the women with a time of 02:19.64, and Jozsef Owen for the men with a time of 01:51.90.
Along the stunning routes, riders took in the infamous sites of Trearddur Bay, Beaumaris, Moelfre, Cemaes Bay, Melin Llynon and Menai Bridge enjoying our famous Tour de Môn feed stations, packed with sandwiches, cakes and treats to keep them going.
Always Aim High Managing Director, Tim Lloyd said: “The Tour de Môn is a firm favourite on the calendar and it was great to be back in Holyhead again this year. It is amazing to see riders from all over the UK to coming to experience this beautiful ride.
"We were also delighted to welcome the Lord Mayor of Holyhead, Hywel Williams to start off the riders in the morning, the support from local residents in Holyhead as well as the whole of Anglesey has been amazing."
